I think so too, but do not know what size of solder tip he used.

He is not soldering yet. It's not like tinning, he is applying a (cold) semi-liquid paste of solder to each contact prior to soldering.

That is just flux - you want solder paste/flux - maybe like http://mouser.com/ProductDetail/AIM/WS488-SAC305-45-SC10/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMs77WAlHGN5Qy%2fIytQIg96vA7D0ktxu9Oc% 3d

What ?

BudDude was just pointing out that the advertisement says that it is "Lead-free" which means it should not contain any lead, however, the next words indicate "pb-63/37". PB is the chemical symbol for lead, but normal 63/37 solder is 63% Tin and 37% Lead, not "pb-63".

I'd have to say that the seller has NO idea of WHAT he is trying to sell, and apparantly doesn't plan to answer any questions from the notes at the bottom of the listing:

we are will testing pass after will shipped. Not accept return items.

If you any question, included lost parcel, shipping fee, item broken, checking ship day other, please through by Ebay Messenger

We are do not responds by email question. Thank You So Much!

Contrasting the linguistic style of the bulleted items, I think they're "cut & pasted" from another listing, which doesn't give me a lot of confidence that I would get what I ordered.

We accept PAYPAL and credit card payment via PAYPAL ONLY. No other payment method will be accepted.

After winning an item in auction, payment must be received by seller within 7 days. If payment is not received within 7 days, ???

If you purchase an item use Buy-it-now, immediately payment is required.

Please DO NOT bid on an item you are unable to honor the bid price and shipping cost.

I think I'd pass on that supplier...

Also if you look at the large picture the tube itself says "Lead Solder Paste 63/37" So either the seller cannot read English or he is purposefully acting stupid. it would definitely be better to buy from mouser or another retailer.

Hmm I do not think I can trust this seller ;)

I seen this this mornign then never got back to it...

Yes it's solder paste, i use it because for the sheer quantity (4000) i have to do it is marginally quicker and i had the solder paste on hand.

It's not much slower to just touch each pad with a little normal 0.7mm solder to tin them and then come back and attach the wires.

I buy all my Solder Paste supplies at the moment from Howard Electronics in the US, the website order process can be painfull but the service is great and they offer cheapish freight internationally.

The paste i use is the NC559 on this page
http://www.howardelectronics.com/amtech/nc500.html

The Tapered needle is the pink one here 20G
http://www.howardelectronics.com/jensen/needlestt.html

I use 22 and 24 guage as well both tampered and metal as needed.

Cheers
