I'm thinking about using some Silicone caulk to "glue" my SSRs to the bottom of my enclosure. I think it might also help as a conformal coating in case things get damp. Does anyone see any problems with this idea?

thats how I have been doing it and no failures yet. I am not using it as a coating, just a couple dabs on the enclosure and then set the ssrs on top of it.

I would have ben concerned with contact bridging, but I guess it's not a conductor or are you avoiding the areas with contacts?

Hot glue works too, don't have to wait as long for it to dry as caulk. :D

I am just putting a couple globs on my container and setting the ssr on top and giving it a slight push. I am not avoiding any contacts, but I am not using them until they are well dry or cured also. I wouldn't use them if the silicone is still wet.

some thing to think about is it Latex Caulking? They use Ammonia in the some caulking as well so you would need to let it dry Well and let the ammonia gas off . Closing the weater tight box up with those fumes in the box could prove fatal to the copper as ammonia LOVES to eat it up.

Some RTV products are corrosive to copper as well. Read the label.

dipping them in candle wax will make them water tight aswell...plus it's easy to get off incase you need to solder on it at a later date..

been using it for years...
