View Full Version : Changing Channels After Sequencing

Ok, so I have 12 channels of dimming via DMX. Actually I have one dimmer (Dimmer 3) which is required to be on channel 1 and takes up 5 channels (one allways on to make the pack dim via DMX and 4 to control the individual dimmer outputs), and I have two regular 4 channel dimmers (Dimmers 1 and 2) (take up 4 channels all controling dimmer outputs). My problem is that in vixen I set them up like this Ch 1, 2, 3, 4 - Dimmer 1, Ch 5, 6, 7, 8 - Dimmer 2, Ch 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 - Dimmer 3. I need them to be like this Ch 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 - Dimmer 3, Ch 6, 7, 8, 9 - Dimmer 1, Ch 10, 11, 12, 13 - Dimmer 2. I sequenced one song so far when the channels were set up the wrong way, so does anyone know how I can switch the channels around without loosing my sequencing efforts for this song? I have learned my lesson though and for every other song I will set them up the right way.

I have a feeling there's an easier way to do this via the channel re-ordering, but I don't entirely understand that (hoping someone chimes in with an explanation)

Another way to do it is create a new sequence with the same setup (length, channels, etc.) Then go to (I'm guessing - I'm at work) Tools - Copy channel data. It asks for the source and destination files, then allows you to map old channel to new channel before copying.

Again - I think you can do this with the channel order, so you may want to wait for someone else to respond with info on that.

Thanks Blake, I will try your suggestion if I can't do it with the channel order.
