Four years if you count the first two that i ran 3 different patterns over a one minute time period on only eight channels using a BASIC STAMP.

I actually did simple blinkylights (not synched to music) using an eight-channel circuit driven by my Commodore Vic-20 back in the college days (circa 1993).
