Greetings -

I've just about got my ethernet output plugin working. So I think I understand output plugins.

I've spent a while searching the forum for information about input plugins.

This morning at church I talked to my friend who is the choir director / pianist and asked for some help laying down beat tracks/channels to start my sequencing designs. I told him we would use a computer keyboard for him to strike the beat and/or melody channel for me to key to. He/I kept looking at his expensive keyboard console and thinking he would be more comfortable keying on it and capturing the MIDI. So i looked and looked on the forum.

My idea would be to make a MIDI Input Plugin that would set channel(s) based on criteria in the plugin setup while the audio track was playing.

I can't find anything like this. If i've overlooked it my apologies, just point me to it!!

I found Photovor's MIDI Live that appears to work for Live controller driving only.

I also found reference in KC's "It wants to be 2.5 when it grows up" to the 'new' Input Plugin Type. He goes on to say "I'll be brief, this has been covered elsewhere before". Can someone say where?

So, is there something in development like this, or is there any info on writing an input plugin that i can start with? I reflector'd the joystick.dll etc. in 2.5 and see some of the structure but don't see the 'opposite' of an event function call. More reflectoring may help.
