Renard Access to port denied

I have a sequence using the Renard Dimmer plugin on COM1 for 40 channels. Whenever I try to play the sequence or open the channel test dialog, a message pops up that says: "Renard Dimmer: Access to port COM1 is denied." There is no output from the controller.

I have no idea what kind of information is needed to solve this issue, but:
-I am running Windows XP Professional
-Vixen 2.0.2.0 (I haven't tried 2.0.3.0, but I see no indication on the forum and in the release notes that anything has changed regarding the way Vixen handles it. I'll try to test it with Beta 3 later.)
-I have confirmed that the port I want is indeed COM1.
-It does the same thing whether I use a sequence without a profile or a sequence attached to a profile (with the same plugin setup for both)

Any thoughts on why this could be happening?

My guess is that something else is using that COM port already.

A pocket PC? A phone? Any other program that runs in the background that tries to communication with a device on COM1?

Find and shut down that program.
