View Full Version : Homemade Lighted Snoflake w/ Pattern

Hey guys, I wanted to share how I will be making all of my snowflakes for the facade of my home. I have attached 4 images that when taped together give you the exact pattern. (no manipulation with pic software needed)

Here are a few details of the build to help:

- Overall dimensions ~16.5"

- I used 1/2" 9 layer birch ply. I recommend using this as opposed to lower grades because it will hold up better against warping in the long run. Not mention it takes sealing better.

- Use a scroll saw. This is not a very good project for a jigsaw, but it could be done.

- Drill bit size for holes = 7/32"

- Use a small dab of hot glue when installing lights. Makes changing bulbs harder but it's worth it.

- Used some glitter on mine. Maybe during the day it will give it a nice shimmer, but we'll see.

- The pattern contains 101 holes for lights since some 100 ct. strands have 101 lights. Omit one if needed.

Let me know if you need any more info.
