After working in a Doctor's office that focused on Cardiology, my wife (Medical Assistant) has been giving her walking papers due to "cut backs" after giving nine years of dedicated service. She is currently looking at other venues today and we will see how it goes. During lunch I will be submitting online applications to the local hospitals here on her behalf to help her out.
We'll see what happens.

I can't imagine anyone in the medical arena getting laid off. I'm sure she can find another Job. Good Luck!

Good luck with that.
I know EXACTLY how it feels.

im sorry to hear about this. i hope she finds something.
well i dont know how it is everywhere else but around here the hospitals are fighting to keep them in the black. they were laying off nurses and cutting hours. my sister works at one of them and she was saying a while back that if they didnt get in the black they might have to shut down. these are big hospitals too. so around here even the medical staff are expendable.

Wow... I didn't think that would happen in the medical profession, since people get sick no matter what the economy is like.
My wife is an RN here in California, and she's always busy.

Man that is horrible, 9years is a long time to start over, I am sorry. We live paycheck to paycheck so that would hurt, but being in the medical profession she should be able to rebound quickly. My glass is always 1/2 full so I feel everything happens for a reason.

It's always hard to have a job taken out from underneath one's feet, and it's almost impossible not to take it personally. But always remember that the reason for the layoff is very important. In this case, it's not because they don't want her or don't need her; it sounds like it's because they don't have the money to pay her.
It's still not easy, but it helps digest it a little better when it's not one's fault.
Prayers coming your way that things will turn around...

I'll keep you in my prayers.
Look for God to open another door after closing this one!

If you have trouble with another M.A. job, have her look into Pharmacy Tech. If things are tough at Institutional Pharmacies (Hospitals, Nurshing Homes) then she could look at Walgreens or Target. They like Pharm Techs with Medical experience and usually start them a higher wage.

Prayers have been answered! My wife has found a job working with a general doctor right next to a hospital. She took a liking to my wife right away and was impressed with my wife's knowledge. My wife says that the doctor is really down to Earth. She is getting paid slightly less to start off, but after about six months the doc assured her that her pay would be comparable to what she was making at her previous job.
Thanks all that prayed for us.

That's great to hear! Hopefully it will be an even better situation than her last job. It's hard to see God's will until after everything falls into place.
Congrats

Mike,
Thanks for sharing your bad news, good news story. Often people hear of the bad side but don't hear about the good news. It's something to share with my adult children as they struggle to find a job after their layoffs. I'm really glad to hear that things worked out.

I had a close friend that was laid off and was about a month from losing his house when he got another job so miracles sometimes happen - good for you!
Ain't God Good! Hallelujah!

Shows your wife must be good at what she does.
I live in the land of Mother Mayo. They posted record profits last year, but not due to increased revenue. Cost reductions. Scare the crap out of your employee's and make them do more for less.
My company is doing the same thing. There are a lot of companies taking advantage of the economic "downturn" to boost profits.
