Hi,

On Ebay there are 50M single colour rope lights (3 wire).
Is it possible to cut these down into smaller sizes?

I was thinking of buying one and cutting it down to suit the sizes I needed then hooking them directly up to a Renard16, if that's possible or a smart thing to do !! What do I need to be careful of if attempting to do this?

Thanks, FJ

In general, yes you can cut them. However, you must cut them at the specified mark, not just anywhere. The spacing between the marks varies, but may be 500mm for example.

One way but not nessesarily the only way.

Is this Planet Christmas guide saying that ropelight just has to be connected to normal 110V to work? Nothing extra is required?

If it is regular incandescent rope light, then you just cut at 18 or 24 inches and connect to 120v and you are good to go.

Your thread title is Cutting LEDs, that is a whole different story.
No experience with it, but I think the power cord contains some kind of electronics,
the strands can not be cut without attaching a new power supply cord.
